Can anyone prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the Greek name Iesous and Zeus is not affiliated. Cause i found that the Greek spelling Iesous is not the correct transliteration of the Hebrew name Yehoshua or the Aramaic short form name Yeshua. So that would make the name Jesus a mistransliteration and that we would be calling on the wrong name for those of us that believe in the name Jesus.

It's been a little over three years and no one has been able to prove beyond a shadow of an doubt that the Greek names Iesous and Zeus are not affiliated with each other, so to prove that we are not calling on the wrong name.

More than likely, generally speaking, you've stated the (sad) truth.

It does seem a little irrelevant. The fact is that YHWH as perceived by the Christians had more than a little of Zeus about him and Jesus looked remarkably similar to Helios in Constantine's time. So how these deities were understood is more important than whether their names were etymologically linked.

For my 2c worth, the Latinization of the greek pronunciation of Yeshua (which appears as Joshua on the OT) has nothing to do with Zeus.

Well, if no one can prove it without a shadow of a doubt, as it is written in the Bible {to prove all things} as it can be proven that the name Jesus is not the correct transliteration according to it's definition. So that would make each and everybody be calling on the wrong name and would be giving their praise and glory to the wrong authority as it is written in the bible {Isaiah 42:12, 48:11} mind you i am not talking about the pronunciation.

No! That is why i would rather speak of his correct name instead of a man given name, but if anyone can prove it, i still awaits.
