I'm jealous! Seriously, sounds great! Hope you have a wonderful time!

My praise report tonight is my husband just finished getting the little book I've written in its final form. We are going to have about 500 copies printed.
It is entitled "Walking through the Valley of Baca" The title is taken from Psalm 84. It is part personal testimony/part grief recovery book. I wrote it primarily directed to bereaved parents. I'm glad we're getting down to having the final product very soon. It's been a long process. Sadly, there have been many opportunities already for me to give away this book.

That is wonderful Kaykay!!! Congrats!

I will keep you both in my prayers for the other things going on in your life. At least for now you have something wonderful to keep you and your husband busy and maybe keep his mind off of other matters

Kay,I am so glad that your book is almost ready. I wish you had never had a reason to write it..I thank God that you did write this book. Only you and other grieving parents really understand the depth, the darkness and the hurt of losing a child. Your book and Gods will are truly a blessing of comfort, inspiration, and guidance toward whatever closure they can find..God Bless you and your husband, Kay

Thanks, Blue...and Kawg (above) Yeah, I have referred to the book more than once as "the book I wish I'd never been able to write." I truly hope the Lord will use it to minister to others. I know that not everyone is a "reader" per se, but I am and after my son's death, I wanted to read a lot about others who had gone through this. I didn't find much initially. There is some stuff out there, I eventually found, but I just felt that the Lord wanted me to add my story and thoughts to the mix. So I did.

Dear KAYKAY,

I am so sorry you had to write that book, and I hope I never have to read it, but I will. I'm glad that God is turning around something so tragic into something good. You and your husband have my deepest sypathy. Through this book you will help someone else who is grieving. You are unselfish to do this as you are offering hope to others who have lost hope. Your lives are testimonials of God's grace.

I wish I had a book like that when my parents lost their son. My baby brother Matthew died in my arms at just two weeks old. I was only 18 at the time, so it was very traumatic. The police came and took him away, since he died at home. An autopsy had to be performed. We never saw him again. We didn't have a funeral or anything. Family came and took everything out of the house, and when we woke up the next morning, it was like we never had a baby in the house. We didn't have any support groups, or anything. I don't know how my mom and dad coped with that. They just never talked about him again. So, thank you for extending a helping hand through your own loss, grief and pain. People need other people who have experienced a loss of a child. Hugs to you!

An old friend of mine, who is retired from the San Francisco Fire Department sent me this. This is not an internet urban legend. I remember the incident, and it occurred during the watch of Al Brunacini, who was the Fire Chief of the Phoenix Fire Department until his retirement in 2001.

Am I A Fireman Yet??

In Phoenix, Arizona, a 26-year-old mother stared down at her 6 year old son, who was dying of terminal leukemia.

Although her heart was filled with sadness, she also had a strong feeling of determination.
Like any parent, she wanted her son to grow up & fulfill all his dreams, but that was no longer possible; the leukemia would see to that, but she still wanted her son's dream to come true.

She took her son’s hand and asked,
"Billy, did you ever think about what you wanted to be once you grew up?
Did you ever dream and wish what you would do with your life?"

Mommy, "I always wanted to be a fireman when I grew up."

Mom smiled back and said, "Let's see if we can make your wish come true."

Later that day she went to her local fire
Department in Phoenix, Arizona, where she met Fireman Bob, who had a heart as big as Phoenix.

She explained her son's final wish and
Asked if it might be possible to give her 6 year-old son a ride around the block on a fire engine.

Fireman Bob said, "Look, we can do better than that. If you'll have your son ready at seven o'clock Wednesday morning, we'll make him an honorary
Fireman for the whole day. He can come down to the fire station, eat with us, go out on all the fire calls, the whole nine yards! And if you'll give us his sizes, we'll get a real fire uniform for him, with a real fire hat - not a toy -- one-with the emblem of the Phoenix Fire Department on it, a yellow slicker like we wear and rubber boots. They're all manufactured right here in Phoenix, so we can get them fast."

Three days later Fireman Bob picked up Billy, dressed him in his uniform and escorted him from his hospital bed to the waiting hook and ladder truck.

Billy got to sit on the back of the truck and help steer it back to the fire station. He was in heaven.

There were three fire calls in Phoenix that day and Billy got to go out on all three calls. He rode in the different fire engines, the Paramedic's' van, and even the fire chief's car. He was also videotaped for the local news program.

Having his dream come true, with all the love and attention that was lavished upon him, so deeply touched Billy that he lived three months longer than any doctor thought possible.

One night all of his vital signs began to drop dramatically and the head nurse, who believed in the hospice concept - that no one should die alone, began to call the family members to the hospital.

Then she remembered the day Billy had spent as a Fireman, so she called the Fire Chief and asked if it would
be possible to send a fireman in uniform to the hospital to be with Billy as he made his transition.

The chief replied, "We can do better than that. We'll be there in five minutes.
Will you please do me a favor?
When you hear the sirens screaming and see the lights flashing, will you announce over the PA system that there is not a fire?"

"It's the department coming to see one of its finest members one more time.
And will you open the window to his room?"

About five minutes later a hook and ladder truck arrived at the hospital and extended its ladder up to Billy's third floor open window--------
16 fire-fighters climbed up the ladder into Billy's room.

With his mother's permission, they hugged him and held him and told him how much they LOVED him. With his dying breath, Billy looked up at the fire chief and said, "Chief, am I really a fireman now?" "Billy, you are, and the Head Chief, Jesus, is holding your hand.” With those words, Billy smiled and said, "I know, He's been holding my hand all day, and
the angels have been singing."

He closed his eyes one last time.

I am deeply in Love with a wonderful man who loves me, makes me laugh and is my best friend. I live in a place I love and am lucky enough to be able to do things which bring me joy and pleasure such as travelling and going to the theatre and the opera. I feel privileged most of the time to have that kind of life and despite many health problems I am blessed with many wonderful things.
All that is missing in my life is the love and companionship of a puppy but this is not to be at the moment due to circumstances. Things could be lot worse and sometimes it is good to realise how lucky you are and to be grateful for all the positive things in your life !
