What kind of attention? I will tell you, the negative kind.

I'm not embarrassed by this. People are gonna think bad things about atheist anyways. Kudos to these kids for believing what they do and not giving a damn what anyone thinks.
No, people could be made to change their minds. Why not have a "God Free day of Volunteerism" or something and have Atheist helping people, proving that religion is not necessary for moral character? Instead, they just reinforce a negative stereotype about Atheism.

Why do so many people have a bad idea about Atheism? Maybe because of people like these students. A little posisitive attention is much better than a whole lot of negative attention.

In the same sense that there are those that practice Christianity and there are those that are are die-hard neocon, bible-thumping, condemning, conversion freaks, there are also the quiet respectful atheists and those atheists that choose to pull stunts like this one.

This is lowbrow on any level. The fact that they are allowed to hand out explicit porn on a public campus is even sadder. There was a time when there used to be standards. We are obviously far past that point as a society.

If we look at the offer from a marketing prospective, I think I can see why they offered porn. Porn is cheap and there is plenty of it around; while science books are not cheap, nor are there enough of them to go around. Than when we look at the market the Atheist are going after we can easily see that market would not trade for a science book. They link those books to the Satan, (I wish I knew how to write Satan so it sounds like the Saturday Night Live “Church Lady” said it), but they can justify a peek at some porn under the pretense of looking for lost souls to save.

I feel sure it is the religious history with 200,000,000 deaths which spawned that statement. I agree with them.

This is a good point. Science books are not cheap. On the other hand, Bibles sell at dollar stores for next to nothing.

I'd characterize it as a college prank, and forget about it.
