First time post. I'm open minded and my philosophy is "above all else, common sense should prevail", I am on a personal journey to find answers. Physicists tell us that energy cannot be created only transferred. So let's start at the beginning...How can something come from nothing?
I don't believe any physicist has ever claimed that something can come from nothing. What came before the Big Bang is unknown. That does not equate to "something coming from nothing". There are numerous ideas about what caused the Big Bang, but they are all speculative at this point.
I do believe you are asking the wrong question though. Why is it that people must make up answers to questions they can't solve at that point in time? When we didn't understand what caused tidal waves, droughts, earthquakes, etc, we attributed them to gods. Now people are doing the same thing with the universe. The god of the gaps argument didn't hold up then and it doesn't hold up now.

Before you ask "how" question, you have made a presumption that there was nothing at one point, then there was something. Why do you presume such?

I know it is speculation but to leave it hanging there is unscientific and just plain boring. I don't accept most things at face value and why should I?

It is scientific to say you don't know until more evidence is available. And I think you made it pretty clear that you're content with just having an answer even if it isn't the correct one (as evidenced by the bolded words). You are not seeking truth, but comfort.
Common sense does not presume there is nothing at one point in time (a wall in time separating nothing versus everything).
Anyway, one can not ask "how" until we are settled with your presumption.
(Also, in terms of "common sense", which kind of people's "common sense"?)
What presumption? Common sense is just common sense it is seeing something for what it is. I'm not going to argue about the structure of my post or the positioning of my words within my sentences. I have made a straight forward question so stop being such a politician and either answer the question or don't post.
