So, let me guess. One morning Mr. Sabat woke up to find he was Muslim. Oh no? He was Muslim all along? Well, maybe then he should have known better. Looks like he made the choice and now that choice is coming back to haunt him. Tough noogies.

True, but let's be fair. If he was a popular Lebanese TV host, he probably didn't expect to be hauled off to Saudi Arabia for a trial.

The point is though, that it is a matter that hopefully is being policed. What we are talking about here is when the police and government are the perpetrators, I don't care about what religion they are, it's just wrong, barbaric even.
I'll tell you what the point is.

You sit outside of Saudi and make ignorant statements about Sharia law and the way they run their country.

Yeah, that's how their government works. It's appalling indeed. But let's look at the Oz government which to this day continues to fail to admit that the attacks were indeed racial or at least showing reluctance in doing so. There goes the ideal, honest, civilized, non-sharia law, Aristotlean democracy style, pseudo-western government aka the commonwealth underbelly

Like you, many ignorant people in India are already branding Oz one of the most racist societies on earth and the very thought of even visiting concerns them. There's some truth to the racist thing, anyway. It's debatable enough.

I simply detect a parallel in every one of you. Islamophobia, though islamophobia is justifiable at times.

But I'm itching to point something out. Let's do a parallel analysis of shivilized, western law and Sharia law.

Western law:
Very civilized.
Freedom, freedom, freedumb.
Land of the Da free.
But.....
Drug trafficking
Child abuse
Kidnaps
Toddler murders (ask Nancy Grace Inc)
Women trafficking
Child porn rackets involving otherwise decent, respectable people
Poppies shagging daughters for 20 years and siring kids in underground cells.
Kidnapping school kids and putting them in cellars for 20 years (that poor duggard girl or something)

Sharia law:
Very under-civilized.
Barbaric.
Eye for an eye, testicle for a testicle.
But.....
Where are the porn rackets, child abusers, traffickers, druglords?
I bet they still operate.
But..... there's a certain fear of castration or getting beheaded.

Let's see:
Sharia law is somewhat effective in controlling crime.

Western law. FAIL. For all the big talk about justice and courts, why is the West extremely crime ridden?

Anyone sees the disconnect or am I just way too intelligent?

Anyone who criticizes Sharia law is asinine, dumb and needs some brain growth to do. Sharia law is sharia law, they don't buy criminals toys from Toys R Us.

Spires, sorry if I came across as a douche.

I'm a big advocate and supporter of the Western law system. And I do not like Sharia law. Just to make myself clear.

Yes, I believe in democracy and I believe it's the least flawed "dictatorship". It's just one dictator versus 100 elected dictators (who can't always agree)

But the idiocy and ignorance in this thread is HILARIOUS. What else is Sharia law. It's supposed to be Sharia law. It's like the Hammurabi code of conduct or a Lite Hammurabi one.

Why the outrage? It's how that part of the world functions. If it buggers these people so much, they need to grow a pair, stop importing oil and rear horses and mules. That might put a check on obesity and global warming Al Gore is happy, the polarbears live well. GM can come out of bankruptcy and trade in horses and fodder, instead. No car loans.

Aaaaaaaaand, when the horse ambles, it's shake, shake and shake. I can see Pam Anderson in her red baywatch suit on a horse. Just kidding

I know you despise it -- I'm just poking you a little bit. And I agree with your point which really boils down to exposing the intellectual dishonesty at work here.

I'm always amazed at how so many on the Left (including many "liberal Christians") like to demonize Israel, the only democracy in a land filled with ruthless dictatorships, and "ignore" the reality of life under Sharia law. People just like to twist, or "selectively ignore" certain "inconvenient" facts, in order to suit their own agenda.

There's one thing that's apparent to me and that's the fact that because Saudi Arabia is in such a position of power due to their massive oil reserves that western nations like America who would officially denounce such ignorant and barbaric behavior if it happened in a less influential country aren't going to do anything about it or even condemn it.

Leftists are hypocrites. 100% of the time, they are clueless about what their ideals are and where they draw the line. A majority of them are even ideologically challenged, this can very well be a special needs situation or something similar.

And they are not liberal coz they are very extreme about what they believe in. They'll even hit you with a club and call you names.

It's a result of several years of brain damage and the various events in their lives which has made them compromise. Arab and the camel situation.

Centrists or independents, on the other hand, are smart people.

Tony, Tony, Tony...you are painting with a VERY broad brush and I don't like it.

I can't stand the hypocrisy on much of the "Left" either. With that said, I am a social conservative, pro-Israeli, Latin-mass going Catholic, but reasonably far to the left-of-centre as regards economics (social democrat), and I greatly resent being called "clueless" and "challenged" even by your good jovial self.

Some day you will grow up and realise the world is far more complicated than you think.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it, kiddo.
