Default Do any religions judge and not forgive?

The church service I attended this weekend said that most Christians have the wrong perception that being a good person is what it takes to go to Heaven. The Pastor said you could have led the most immoral sinful life and God will forgive you...that forgiveness is what Christianity is about. He said Christianity doesn't give you a license to sin but if you have sinned and found Christ you will be forgiven and go to Heaven..that Christ died on the cross for your sins. The pastor didn't mention, but I assume he believes, that if you are a good person who doesn't believe in Jesus Christ you will go to Hell.

This does not appeal to me. I would like to know if there are any religions in the world who do judge us by our deeds? A religion that is extremely critical and judgemental of murderers, rapists and other violent criminals. A religion that values being good over forgiving the bad...this is the religion I want to join.. I know the secular world offers nothing to somebody like me because secularists not only forgive they deny there is such a thing as good and evil in the first place. Would Hinduism and their belief in karma be the closest match for me or is there a Western religion (or branch of a religion) that would be the best fit?

LaVeyan Satanism.

It sounds like a good lol, but I kid you not. I looked into it when a friend mentioned that he thought it'd be a good fit for me. They follow the Law of Reprisal (Do unto others as they do unto you) so that love and compassion is not wasted on "ingrates."

LaVeyan Satanism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

3.3 Satanic Virtue: explains a little more on above. Anton LaVey was a kook who was great at getting attention, but he actually did have some pretty good thoughts in his creepy-lookin head.

Just curious...does the pastor happen to be a Catholic priest?

Often times truth is not appealing but appeal is not what determines truth.

If it is only religion (following man) you want your possibilities are endless. If it is truth in relationship you want there is only one – Christ Jesus.

All but one religion is based on works righteousness to some degree. The problem with this is that works without faith in our creator is nothing more than dirty rags – dead works.

seek Lord Krishna He's the one who imparted the knowledge of the laws of karma-and a hell of alt more and you wont find any holes in this philosophy-read Bhagavad Gita if you wish-i used to be a christian and had fear off hell and all that and was mentaly screwed up over the issue but then i found something or He found me more like it and it was a real experience one that i can never forget-had a couple of them, even though i'm not what you'd call a devotee-i can only imagine the transcendental height's they can reach-the proof in the pudding is in the eating and this can bring immediate spiritual awareness if done properly-but you'll love Krishna-wait until you hear of His pastimes-back home an old freind of mine said that back in hids day everybody called them the happy Hare's(pronounced harry's)

one more thing -Krishna makes it clear in the Bhsagavad Gita that all expansion's of God emanate from Him-He has an unlimited amount of form's and names and energys and all are eternal and the same god-that's why Hindus can accept Jesus and Bhudda and Allah and JHWH and Shiva and Vishnu(Krishna)and the many other known incarnations as all expansions of the same God-and Krishna explaines that all paths to Him lead to Him-

we are said to have originated from the spiritual sky(universe)-(o.k. 2 more things)we are eternal spiritual beings that have fallen from our original position and in that state of transcendence we are eternally full of bliss and knowledge-Krishna consioussness teaches how to get back to our original spiritual selves and its a process that takes lifetimes but can be done in one(very rare)and its not something that you jhave to wait till you die to see results no that will come-but i hope He shows you a bit of magic like He did me........good luck in your search

did you not hear the man-he dont want to be a christian and he dosent want to be for the very reason that you'r trying to get him in---Jesus is the only way and no matter how good you are if you dont accept Him then you aint gettin in--

the bible has been changed and missinterpreted over the years.....but the thing is Jesus did teach reincarnation and karma-"rep what you sow"and their is hints of reincarnation in the bible -but constantine was meant to remove whole book's some based on reincarnation -figures since He spent so much time in India.

Most religions teach forgiveness. Although among Christians Catholicism, Orthodoxy, and *Mormonism do value works/actions more than most forms of Protestantism. Still they all value forgiveness.

Confucianism is traditionally a system concerned with social interaction. Although it does have forgiveness a Confucian saying I recall is "repay good with good, and evil with justice." That being said Confucianism usually emphasizes that people are naturally good and does not say much or anything with regard to the afterlife.

Some forms of Judaism I think are based more in ideas of justice and results rather than intentions or faith. Although Judaism does value forgiveness. I think in the case of some forms of orthodox Judaism or Confucianism it's more that the person must "pay their debt to society/others" before forgiveness.

I doubt any religion is going to say that a truly rehabilitated/repented person should be condemned for all time. If you want that I do think maybe you have a problem.

If it's the non-Christian issue many forms of liberal Protestantism teach non-Christians can go to Heaven and Catholicism often teaches non-Christians can go to Heaven if they are ignorant. Pope John Paul II seem to indicate those who live a Christ-like life may go to Heaven, or be given the offer/enlightenment, regardless of faith.

*Granted it being Christian is disputed.

Funny how you throw that logic out the window when it comes to accepting facts like evolution, big bang, old earth, Biblical errors and contradictions, etc.

A personal relationship with a fictional character from an ancient fantasy novel is either a religion or a psychological disorder (if there is indeed a difference between the two).

The Catholic church excommunicates for various reasons.
I'd say that qualifies as an answer to the OPs question

A bit of having your cake and eating it too! But of course you gotta drop some coin in the collection plate, contribute the building fund for the new parsonage, etc.
