Darwin Day is already celebrated voluntarily by many people. But to nationalize such a great contributor to science would only be appropriate.

Certainly more valuable than any President we've had.

Holy Riot Act, Batman!
That was the Founding Fathers *claim*...but not their actual agenda. They were talking one thing...while doing another. Though the application of their agenda (up to and including the govt printing Bibles to be used as school text books) was so blatant it was easy for anyone with the most basic power of observation and reason to figure it out.

We need TRUE govt neutrality on religion...with them having nothing to do with it what-so-ever. It's not part of their job description...and none of the "legislate one thing, but do the opposite" scam like a lot of the first leaders pulled. They have no business involved in it...and any of them doing it should be removed from office.

They need to get a clue anyway...God (BibleGod that is) never extolled the virtues of worldly governments...and actually refers to them as the "wild beast" that will be destroyed in the end. So they are barking up the wrong tree to begin with.

Putting "In God We Trust" on our currency and on the wall in govt buildings, is like putting a kippah on a Nazi. They need to check out what God thought of money and worldly govts.

It just goes to show what kind of boneheads have been in charge of the United States.

I would love to see a Famous Scientists Day celebrating phenomenal people like Einstein, Hawking, Sagan, Darwin, et cetera!

We don't need any kind of "Yea-Ra-Ra Whatever/Whoever Day"....How about "Get to Work and Be Prudent with the Tax Revenue Day", everyday!

Just leave the frivolous "holidays" like Mothers Day, Fathers Day, etc....otherwise I don't see any good reason to legislate the honoring of people or theologies...or the country honoring itself. It's just an excuse to get paid for not showing up to work.

We all need to get it in gear and quit screwing around "celebrating" everything and everybody and get down to business...or we are in for big problems...worse than what we already have.

Darwin was British. So far as I know the US doesn't create/add "National Days" for people from other countries. If there's to be a national holiday for Darwin it should be in the British Commonwealth.

Don't know who you'd go with for American scientists as American scientists came a bit late to the game. Maybe Jonas Salk or Linus Pauling or someone like that.

Tell ya what...they can designate every day of the year a "Holiday" in recognition of an event, person, or ideal...just as long as it doesn't interrupt work for even a second, EVER.

Ask the farmer if the cows don't need to be milked and fed, and all the other animals fed, because it's a "Holiday". What a scam! It's just a way for people to find an excuse to not go to work or goof off. I'm sure you're gonna get a lot done while everyone stands around praying...WTF! This country has gotten "soft", and specializes in laziness...and getting pay/money for doing nothing. And we wonder why the fed, every state, most cities and towns, and most of the people, are broke and in deep debt. Most look for every opportunity to screw off...but still look for their pay, or a handout.

If this attitude keeps up...we're doomed!
