In response to "draw Muhammad day" pakistan has started banning websites (over 400 now), facebook, youtube, wikipedia etc etc.. ..

What do you think of these censorship?

I think they want to keep the masses living in pakistan ignorant of what the world thinks of Islamic extremist..

I'm not a believer in censorship either, but banning Facebook and YouTube isn't going to cause Pakistani society to come crashing down.

I suppose we could point out that here, in the west, we ban websites too. Not just Certain porn sites but also what would be deemed 'terrorist' sites.

If muslims ban websites that they consider offensive to Islam, it's not surprising.

I think Pakistanis have much more day-to-day oppressions and censorship to be concerned with. Ahmadis are forbidden from naming their children Muhammad, Hindus may face forced conversions, blasphemy laws are extremely strict, rape victims are sometimes punished by leading figures, etc.

There are a few countries that ban some porn sites, but terrorist sites, and other sites that encourage people to infringe on others human rights, won't be tolerate..

Does the FSM have a urethra? Can I just draw a six-grade version of FSM urinating on every religious holy figure?
