Coming in September.

I've read the east is the "bad" side, I'm guessing Virginia separates
east from west. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I have not figured out North and South Reno yet: is it Plumb Lane?

Some listings I read displayed apartments in Central Reno,
near Renown, and VA Sierra. I know it is on the east side,
but how dangerous is that part of Reno? Compared to here,
Rochester, NY; it is probably very safe. I mostly want to avoid
the Gang activity.

The good news is the bad part of Reno is, in my opinion, few and far between. And once you set foot in the area, you'd have a good idea if it's Heaven or hell. I was trying to look for a map to determine the East from the West. I couldn't find one.

So the big, bad part of East would be Oddie exit from highway 395. This is where Montello, bishop Sutro is located. I believe you can hit all of these from downtown if you head East. And those are generally not a good area, and you'll see why once you visit.

Plumb Lane would be South Reno. The main road would be Virginia--North and South. Virginia is our most popular street, sort of like Reno's "Las Vegas Strip" . And the further you go South, generally, the better it is. Hence, most people like living in South Reno--South Meadows, Damonte Ranch Exit from 395 headed South.

If the apartments are near Renown, VA Sierra. It's not too bad, I think. I've been around that area a lot of times. And it's not great, but it's not bad either. DOwntown could be a tad bit loud esp. in the Summer (Street Vibrations, Hot AUgust nights, Loud party goers).

Gang activity is usually on the East Side. Most esp. in MONTELLO, SUTRO, ODDIE.

Default I got ya Joe Salcedo....

North of the River, near 80/395. What is good or bad these days?
I'm suburban, born and raised. Almost all of Rochester is bad in my eyes;
I live a very short distance from Greece, NY; and spend most of my time there.
Overall, even with the Spaghetti bowl, Reno is far safer than Rochester.
I'll go to Google Earth and look at cams of some spots. Homeless issues? Ha!
I lived in San Francisco, were they'll jump in your face demanding money;
I had to physically remove them. I'd take a Lysol bath afterwards.
Reno has fewer people living below the poverty line, here it is about 26%
of the population, Yikes! Even the Renown area sounds like Chihuahua, MX;
not great, but not too bad either; I was comfortable.
I am nervous because I've never been outside the Amtrak station in Reno.

I am much more comfortable now.

Mr. Salcedo, you wouldn't happen to have any apartment listings would you?
