Population of Nevada...............................2,643,085

This leaves 366,896 people for the rest of the state, so, Reno and Vegas are not the entire state, only about 85 percent of it.
Population wise, sure. Area wise, only a small portion. Most of Nevada is a rural ranching and mining state. If that what you're looking for, this is a great place to live. Mining is booming and the jobs pay well. Many of our friends are farmers and dairymen and are doing just fine. It sounded to me like the OP would be happier in say, NYC or LA. If you're looking for a hip, urban lifestyle, Reno will never be that.

Nevada, outside Clark, Washoe, and Carson Counties, is, the last best place.

However, even if his stats reflect Reno or Vegas, for most of it, it is a big So What?

For instance, if a serious plague like in Steven Kings "The Stand" were to occur most people would consider it a terrible calamity, but for those who lived through it, it would sure improve the country.

As Ed Abbey once said, "This would be a great country with 30 million people in it."

I understand that. I have spent much of my adult life wandering in the dusty corners of Nevada. I like it, most don't. Even people born and raise in Reno have never visited their own state.

Wow, that sounds cool... I love exploring natural areas.

I've been debating on whether to bring my jeep with me on a move to Reno. Sounds like it would come in handy

By all means bring your jeep. and throw a mtn bike on it, and be prepared for wild land and wild roads. It is not uncommon to drive 500 miles on dirt roads and never see another soul.

Definitely! I had mine out just last weekend exploring some of the old Carson Trail that runs through here. Once you head east of Reno or Carson it's pretty wide open. Just watch out for posted private property and be sure to close any gates you open. Sounds to me like you will probably like it here.

Oh, the reason for the mtn bike? You are going to get stuck at some point. It is easier to pedal 50 miles to pavement than walk it.

Ha ha ... you were reading my mind.

My jeep is Old School. 83 Jeep Scrambler... here she is.

And not a vehicle I would consider taking on a long, solo trip unless I was sure I could walk out of it (or mountian bike as you say).

Thinking I should sell it and buy something up there .. OR.. invest in upgrading the engine, etc...
