Hello,

I am coming to Reno sometime in April or May (haven't picked a date yet). I am coming to bowl in the USBC National Bowling Championships.

This trip is going to be a complete surprise to my girlfriend. Her corporate office is going to 'schedule' her for training during those days so she knows she won't be doing her regular job and won't schedule anything else those days. The morning we leave I will tell her that I am taking her on a trip, but she won't know anything. This is a very detailed surprise and if anyone is interested, I will share some of the details. Its pretty cool.

So, I would like to ask anyone from the area about the perfect place to actually drop to my knee and pop the question. I am 40 and she is 35. This will be the 2nd marriage for both of us. We have been together for two years.

I would like suggestions that are traditionally romantic or even ideas that would be 'memorable'. Also, if anyone wants to take part in my plan a little, that would be great too. I have some great ideas, but it would take some coordination in Reno and I would need to some allies.

Thanks for reading this far... I am very romantic and I want this adventure to be something she thinks about and smiles for the rest of her life.

Budget-wise, I won't have a ton of money, so not looking for extravagance. Besides, what will make this great is the planning of it. I am starting a journal that will document everything I am doing, day by day, until the moment she says yes ("She said YES!" will be my last entry in the journal).

TJ

How about on a Paddle Wheeler on Lake Tahoe. Years ago the Captain invited my four year old to see the inside of the wheelhouse, and we have a great pic of him holding onto the wheel. Maybe you could set something up with the crew ahead of time.

I don't know if they still do the sail boat but that's another option.

I know some people who got married on skis at the top of Heavenly Valley. There is a restaurant up there too ...or there was last time I was there. You could go out on the deck overlooking the lake from the top of the mountain. There is no more spectacular view anywhere in the country. By then the lifts may not be running, but you could check on that easy enough. I'd bet the ski area will still be open though with all the snow this year.

Tahoe at sunset.

The only thing memorable about Reno is leaving.

Thank you for the response. It looks like she wants to go on a cruise during that same timeframe and I am going to skip this years tournament to focus on the cruise instead.
