My personal favorites(keep in mind I'm a vegetarian and have a downtown bias haha):

Nugget Diner: If you like burgers you definitely have to go with the Reno classic "Awful Awful". Its just a random little place in the back of a small casino but they have the best burger in town.

Spread Peace Cafe(I think its called Urban Beats or something now): Right on the river, a really cool atmosphere, and they have wonderful food with a lot of vegan and vegetarian options.

Silver Peak: Another cool place downtown with good food.

Wild River Grille: Never actually been and I know its pricy, but it looks like a really cool place.

Little Waldorf Saloon: A little ways north of downtown, but a really college collegy-type bar. Also from 9-10 every night they have $15 off large pizzas which means they are essentially 2 dollars.

I don't know what kind of restaraunts you specifically like, but here are some more:

MEXICAN: Miguel's on Virginia Street just south of downtown has wonderful food, I really like that place. A lot of people recommend Bertha Miranda's, and it is a cool place but I like Miguel's better.

There is also a wonderful Indian place on South Virginia just south of downtown but I forget what its called.

And there is a new Thai place downtown called Thai Corner Cafe next to Silver Peak, but I havent been. There's a Thai Place next to Miguels that is excellent though.

Also I forgot to mention for breakfast Peg's Glorified Ham & Eggs is excellent and right downtown.

Default My Top 5

BigDave forgot to mention that Silver Peak is a brewery. That is a huge draw in and of itself. Their brews (and the food) are awesome! Get the sampler.

My top 5

Silver Peak - see above

Brew Brothers- located in the Eldorado Casino- brewery with awesome burgers and pizza and more

Betos- Mexican food like granma makes. Nothing fancy but it's great food and it's cheap tacos, burritos, soups, enchiladas etc. (575 W 5th St)

Nugget- I agree with BigDave, the awful awful is a definite find

Men Wielding Fire- 180 E. 1st Street (on the corner of Lake and 1st Street)

Other places close by:

Sierra Tap House - they've got lots of different specails all the time Sierra Tap House - Reno, Nevada

Duffy's Ale House- located at the Freighthouse District next to the ballpark

Saucy's at the Peppermill- Awesome smoked food!

ENJOY! We always do
