No choice? What are the kids doing that requires a curfew? There are likely already laws for loitering, and if they are vandalizing.. there are laws for that as well. A curfew creates a thought crime which is a seriously bad precedent to set. Not only that but it casts everyone under 18 as a presumed criminal, contrary to our supposed presumption of innocence.

Kinda sending some mixed messages to kids these days...

All of those things are already illegal (well gangs maybe not) and certainly doesn't justify a law to criminalize everyone whether they are engaged in these activities or not.

unfortunately I have to agree however I'd kindly suggest you add, in the beginnging of your comment the word SOME because not ALL children in n nv do meth, heroin, robbery, drink liquor or are involved in gangs.

My family has lived here for years and fortunately we've NEVER had any issues with any of the above mentioned. You can't catagorize all children because of the unsupervised "bad seeds". All the children in my family are involved in sports, school activities, family life, etc.

YES we do have a horrible meth problem here but it's doesn't affect the majority of the population as your comment suggested. I'm curious if you're even from N. Nevada or your comment was based on pure speculation or even worse "the nightly news" ?

What if the kids are WITH mom and dad?

It's okay if they're with their parents, they just aren't allowed to wander the streets alone

Carson City is very strict with teens and adults. I live in Carson and they run a very tight ship. this past weekend they had several undercover cops at many of the local Gin Mills and Casinos and they were passing info to the deputy sheriffs on the street as to who was leaving and who drank liquor and so they can arrest them if they got behind the wheel.

I think its a great idea they are very strict with our local teens it makes them aware that if they choose to commit a crime they will be taken down to the station and held for a least 24 to 48 hrs and may face serious fines and jail time.

Sadly Carson is hit hard with crystal meth and gangs. The Sheriffs department has faced a lot of job cuts and they are trying all they can to keep Carson Clean of Drugs, Gangs an other illegal activities with a small force.

I don't care what the law says! One day when I get married and have kids, I'll let them stay out as late as they want, just to defy the law! And I would love to see a pig come along and try to arrest my kid! Just try it, flatfoot! I'll teach you a lesson!
This is America, and I have a right to raise my children as I see fit! Ha, ha, ha, ha, take that, copper!

Because there are way too many parents who have no clue or care where their kids are and at what time. These kids end up getting in trouble and causing trouble for the citizens (like home robbery) etc.

Government needs to step in - protecting kids so they don't cause trouble and protecting the community.
