[quote=Zinnia;1306706]When does it start to get cold.... am coming out there in a week or so for a job and need to know what to expect as far as weather....[After October, expect 8 months of cold weather ranging 70-and lower. It takes a while to finally get warm temps up again starting in June, July, Aug, Sept. There's a saying about our weather "from summer to winter"; I know because I've lived in northern Nevada for 40 years! Allergies are bad with lots of sage, tumbleweed and fire smoke in the summer- fires and earthquakes are what we have here instead of hurricanes, etc. The winds blow California smoke in the Reno path (thank goodness for our winds to blow it out). Casinos and hospital jobs are good but watch out for cig smoking and bad air in casinos.]

Default Northern Nevada weather

I've lived here for nearly 30 years (1979) and the weather pattern is relatively predictable. Beginning in late Aug, nights begin to be cooler, because the humidity is low and the air doesn't hold the heat of the day. By early Sept, morning temps are in the upper 40s-low 50s, but the days are still warm (mid to upper 80s). Late September is the time when morning temps become chilly--low to mid-40s--while daytime highs rarely rise above 80. October is typically when the weather "breaks"--the first frost is usually the first week of October, and it's not unusual to see snow at Halloween. It usually doesn't last, but mid-October on you'll see lows at freezing, possibly lower. Oddly enough, when it rains or snows, the temperature is higher. When it clears, the temps drop.

Hope that answers your question, and welcome to Northern Nevada!

?? That question is unanswerable, do you mean average/mean/mode record high for the month, record low for the month...

Here's some data: Climate Reno - Nevada - Climate graph
