Hi everyoone... Long time lurker, first time poster here!
My girl and myself are re-locating to the Reno area in approx. 2 weeks time. We're coming from upstate NY, where ice ishing is a popular winter activity. I've done a great deal of research on NV as far as outdoor activities go, and I'm aware the area offers some fantastic flyfishing for trout, but I've found no mention of ice fishing in any of my searching. Am I just not looking on the right websites? Weather underground indicates that it gets cold enough for ice to form in the winter in the northern 3rd of the state. I'm wondering if it just doesn't build to safe levels, or I'm just not finding any info on ice fishing.
Of course the lack of ice fishing isn't a deal breaker for us, we've already sold our home here, and pretty well packed up.... just wondering if I should pack up my ice fishing gear, or give it away?

Right west of Reno, Prosser Lake usually freezes, Sometimes Boca. Also Wild Horse out east.

A couple of cautions, sometimes the lakes freeze hard sometimes they don't, sometimes water is let out and there will be a couple of inches of air between the ice and the water.

Ice fishing out here is a darned good way to die, but lots of people icefish.
