There seems to be a decent amount of houses available to rent in Reno and Fernley in the price range of $950 to $1100. But I am wondering if it would be better to rent an apartment to keep costs (heating, water, etc) down. The best apts I've looked at on the web so far seem to be Balfour place (23oo Harvard way) and Austin Crest (1295 Grand Summit dr). Any advice??

I would stay away from Balfour Place. I'm not familiar with the other place. You are right though about the costs. Get an apartment and your heating bill will be less.
