That is correct.

There is also a Eric Schat's Bakery in Carson City, NV.

Is 395 a faster way to go? The maps recommended 5 up to 80 and over. That's the way I took this week, then went down to Carson City, Tahoe, and back on the 50 to the 5. 395 just looked too remote. Even with a perfectly good working Honda, I didn't want to chance getting stuck somewhere with no cell service or services.

We flew all the way back to LA from Sacramento down to the Grapevine. Then we spent an hour going 4 miles because of construction. Then we hit more junk through Santa Clarita before hitting LA Thursday rush hour, even the carpool lane was bad.

395 is better. It is also not that remote and not any more so than I imagine 50 to be. I have gone that way many times to and from LA and, going there, I don't hit LA traffic until well past Lancaster usually. (traffic is generally going in the other direction later in the afternoon)

I would definitely recommend that route over 80 and 5.

The OP has long since made the trip, but for others, there are Costcos in Reno and Carson City. If not a member, The Arco at 395 and Waterloo Lane in Gardnerville, and the Indian casino in Bishop are usually the best places to gas up.

395 is not remote, there are towns all along the route, some little more than tiny hamlets, but still places with at least basic facilities. Have no experience as to cell reception, have never made or received a call on the way, so cannot comment on that part.

Echo. Have taken 395 for 40 years, and would never take the 5/99 50/80 way to Reno/Tahoe or back unless, for some reason, there was no other option. I-5 or 99 is dull, boring, and tedious, and is more of a chore, rather than the pleasure of 395.
