Hello All,

I am researching venues in Reno for an inexpensive, non-traditional and quirky wedding. We don't want an Elvis wedding or a drive-through wedding - and we don't want to walk into an office building to get married.

We're looking for low-key, personable, a good sense of humor in our officiant and a pretty (not cheesey) backdrop for pictures.

The same chapels keep coming up online (Antique Angel and Arch of Reno, for example).

We would not be opposed to a pop-up wedding or using a mobile officiant, if you have any ideas about that. We have less than 15 guests and we'd like to get some good pictures in (preferably that we don't have to pay a professional photographer for -- I noticed that there are a lot of places that require you to use their photogs).

Then again, I'm not opposed to all-inclusive package if the location and vibe are right.

Have you recently attended a wedding that you loved? Where was it? Or have you yourself been been married in Reno and had a wonderful experience?

Any and all info would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

There's always Lake Tahoe. Lots of people get married on the beach. And if you're on the CA side you don't need a blood test to get married. Although the Mt Rose ski lodge is a beautiful facility not too far from downtown Reno.

We got our marriage license 33 years ago in Minden, and ceremony at South Lake with no blood test. it was required in CA at that time.

"Nevada marriage licenses are notoriously easy to get; there is no blood test or required waiting period".

In downtown Reno you can get married on the river and get beautiful pictures like you were out in the woods. Check out some of the chapels by the river, they've done it plenty of times before and can tell you how they would set it up.

Idyllwild Park. Went to a wedding there yesterday with the ponds and the setting sun and the trees framing the scene. Didn't cost a thing!
