Default Anyone from Reno-Tahoe area?

Hi everybody,
My husband and I are thinking about moving to the area and would be interested in hearing from someone who lives there.
Look forward to hearing from you!

Thanks,
Heather

If you have decent jobs lined up and can afford one of the better neighborhoods (outer northwest or southwest Reno, for example), then you should be fine. However, if you want culture and civility, Reno's NOT the place. It's improving but has always been (and will always be) a bit too redneck for some.

Reno is a lot of fun. Sure, it can be a bit redneck, but most places can too. I could be pretentious and say that if you don't live in NW or SW Reno it's a mistake, but I must live in the redneck areas so I won't. Even though I have a decent science job I won't spend the kind of money for those places.

Reno is an awesome location for skiing/snowboarding and hiking if you are into those things. It's much more than a gambling community. Lots of great restaurants.

Good luck!

I moved here with my boyfriend last spring. We love it. He grew up here and has always been partial to it. We are outdoor enthusiasts.... we both road bike, mtn bike, and I run and am always training for something, so this area is perfect for that. I keep hearing about job issues, but I turned down a couple before I settled on what I wanted, and my boyfriend found himself handed two jobs that he's trying to juggle because he enjoys both.

Over all, it's been a very good experience for us.
