That's good advice. I've been searching, applying, and even directly emailing various prospects remotely from here in CA.

Went to one interview in Minden, but it was not the job for me. I did however make some good contacts and met some very nice people. I feel that I'm a good networker and I make connections rather well. I just think I need to be there so I can "hit the pavement running" and make personal appearances in a moments notice. Thank you again for your advice....

I have applied at Tesla and understand that that location won't be fully up and running for at least two years.

I interviewed at Rite of Passage in Minden for a Business Manager position. Their corporate headquarters is in the CV Business Park off Johnson Lane. They responded to my resume that I submitted and invited me in for an interview. Very nice people and a well funded company. The job just wasn't really suited for me. I kind of knew it going in, but I wanted to visit the area again to network with some other folks.

Hey, they are still looking to fill this position, if this is the kind of work you're interested in????

rite of passage is an interesting company, at the beginning of the year there was a riot at one of the yerringtom homes, the kids burned down some buildings. Riot at Rite of Passage leads to fires, escapes

Needless to say they are always hiring which is kinda questionable well to me anyways.........

Yeah, I read that article while researching the company prior to driving up for the interview. Crazy kids burning down the buildings.....

I'd actually like to wind up in Minden. I really like the town, and the folks that I met while visiting were very welcoming, especially at the CV Inn and the Cowboy's Cafe......I have a friend that has lived in Minden for the past 10+ years. A transplant from Los Angeles. He has a good job as a certified safety specialist. He is also looking out for job opportunities for me in the area as well. Maybe something will pop up soon......

minden isn't as quaint as it use to be, I remember 395 as a 2 lane road now its bumper to bumper almost 24/7, I see myself leaving here the next couple of years, I love the mountains and all the outdoor activities but it doesnt make up for all the growth we have seen here the last 10 years. Minden/Gardnerville is pretty much retirement towns mostly made of up of cali transplants. I remember when it was a farm town. Maybe I just need change or maybe Ive hated seeing all the growth here. Either way I hope you find what your looking for and remember Dec and Jan are the coldest months here hopefully there will be snow this year..

Carson City also interests my wife and I. Seems like there's more to do there, i.e. social activities, restaurants, etc, etc. And more available homes for sale.

Carson City is pretty awesome and its closer to Reno, Virginia City etc. It has its seedy areas like anything else but hosts many fun gatherings. Farmers market in the spring summer and fall. Bands will sometimes play downtown. Keep in mind when the by pass is finished in 2017 carson city will see a slump in business, also look in to state jobs

If interested in Minden you may want to check into GE or Starbucks as they have large-ish facilities there. Starbucks has a production/roasting facility and I know there is some sort of electrical engineering facility with GE. They both seem to pay well and have good, really good, benefits.

It seems pretty sketchy, I thought the State was going to quit placing kids there, but I guess they changed their mind at some point.
Rite of Passage had improved troubled past before riots
