Above 8000 feet most of this storm should be snow and we could see 6-9 inches on the East side of the basin, 9-12 inches on the West side, with up to 15 inches West of the lake along the crest. Above 7000 feet we could see 3-6 inches on the East side of the basin, and 4-8 inches on the West side. At lake level we could see 2-3 inches on the East side of the basin, and 3-4 on the West side.”

Winds will be gusting around 50 mph in valleys and 100 mph along mountain tops ahead of a strong cold front Sunday.Be sure to secure any loose outdoor items. Rain and snow showers will move into the region Sunday into Monday with accumulating snow likely in the Sierra. Snow levels will start between 7500-9000 feet on Sunday, falling to around 5000 feet by Monday. Much colder temps are on tap for next week with high temperatures only in the 40s for many western Nevada valleys.” – NOAA Reno, NV.

lol I'm not surprised, I don't put much stock in weather reports anymore, every time they say it's going to rain I cover the patio furniture and the sun comes out...it only rains when I wash the car or uncover the furniture

The weather reports seem to say that it will get cold on Sunday. Here in what I'd call upper Sparks, it's been in the low 30's in the wee hours (around 3-4:00 a.m.), so we'll see what happens in the upcoming days.

It is windy now, though not bad at all, and nicely warm. I do like some wind on occasion, as it blows away whatever stuff might be in the air.

There's been predictions that there is an El Niño on its way that will bring much needed snow to the Sierra Nevada.

Ok, well we got the rain and snow today. I had 2" (in the foothills below the treeline) before leaving for work at 7:30am. It rained all day, and is now snowing again, predicted to continue overnight. Might be an e-ticket ride to work on Tuesday morning...but bring it on! We need all we can get. Some of the weather models show this storm continuing til early Wednesday...Yay!!!!!! Right now at 7:30pm we have just over an inch in our rain gauge. Bring it on!
