I'm thinking by March, hopefully the snow will not be as prevalent as it might be right now. I'd assume that the most direct route from Reno to Colorado Springs would be to follow I-80 through SLC all the way across to Cheyenne and then south on I-25 through Denver and to Colorado Springs. It's all interstate-highway travel so the roads will have priority status as to snow removal as it is important to commerce in that truck traffic getting through takes precedence.

avalanches happen in the back country but it's more of a concern if your skiing high country. In March the roads will be fine! I would carry chain just in case. NHP will close roads if conditions are unsafe. Not to worry!
