Both are high desert cities.

Anybody familiar with both climates gives a comparison between Reno and Albuquerque?

Yes, I have lived in both. It gets a lot colder in Reno and stays colder longer. Downtown in the winter, that wind can cut right through you. Albuquerque's winters were too much for me too (I moved to Florida, where it's...what winter?) and you would get snow, but it usually wouldn't stick around a long time. I liked Albuquerque, but it's a city w/ a fair share of crime and a largely out of control police force that is under Federal oversight due to their trigger happy nature. Pretty area, and maybe living out in the burbs might be OK, but I exhausted my urge to go back and can't see ever leaving St Pete.
