Talking Activities for Young College Adults?

I have lived here for almost 14 years and I still find it challenging to make friends in Reno. Does anyone know of any activities or events that I could join that might allow me to make friends? I am a young college educated adult (24 years old) that is not into 'clubbing' or sports; instead, I am more of a geeky/intellectual person that is easygoing in nature. I like to go to the movies, walk at parks, read, and hang out. I also am very quiet and shy. I am primarily seeking non-college affiliated activities/clubs to be considered. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

A great way to meet like minded people is at meetup.com. They offer many clubs in many different activities. Walking clubs, crafting clubs, dinner clubs, brunch clubs, political clubs. You get the idea. The cool thing is - if you don't find a club with your interests, you can start your own. You'll be surprised how quickly people will sign up to be in your club! Give it a try.

I've read several times on this forum about people having a hard time making solid friendships in Reno. Why exactly is that?

Reno is a bunch of different scenes all existing in the same space. If you aren't part of a scene, then you are a non-entity.

I grew up here and I have never noticed it being hard to make friends, but I notice I always see the same people everywhere I go.
