Just read your post about Mound House. We live (also childless) in Carson City, not far from Mound House. Actually, there ARE reasonably priced rentals throughout the area, but you have to check everywhere. Various realty offices often handle rentals, as do property management firms.

They really need to crack down on people with kids being allowed to rent in adult-only complexes! We're currently at odds with a joker who sneaks his kids in next apartment to us, when ALL the other units (22) follow the rules and don't have kids! We looked at a rental in Mound House when we first scouted the area here in 2003, but it was located adjacent to a junk yard (rodents, bugs) so we declined it. But there ARE places you could afford. The search can be tiring, however. Good luck!!

I'm actually starting to like Reno more; granted there are a few things that need to be improved... The culture here is pretty good, if you read my other thread about Pub N' Sub then you will see that I am not trying to bash Reno... The main problems are with the state government and the economy, but Reno is a beautiful place to live...

Now that the Supreme Court ruled that food given away at casinos isn't taxable, they said the budget deficit will reach $1 Billion - therein lies our problem... Rather than cut funding for education and municipal services, perhaps Nevada should impose a 1% state income tax on earned income (Social Security Income should be exempt ) I know people here are afraid of being over-taxed like California, but c'mon 1% of a $500 would be 5 bucks; people would hardly feel the difference, and that same 1% would solve the budget deficit and more than likely create a surplus which could be given back to the community in the way of higher ranking k-12 schools, better municipal services, and lower tuition rates for college students... I don't know about you guys but I'd be willing to pay $5 a week for all that... All we would have left to do is replace Jim Gibbons!

jwaters943, please, the snide remarks really aren't necessary; i didn't intend to disrespect anyone and FYI, I would never drive under the influence of MJ, alcohol, or any drug for that matter. What I do in the privacy of my own home is my personal business and I should have the right to do as I please as long as I am the responsible citizen that I am. This is supposed to be the land of the free, is it not? I am college educated and can make my own decisions. Many people use MJ to relax and let loose not just to get "stoned" It is in every way safer than your alcohol, Nevadans seem to love so much!

I could go on to say things about the level of your intellect, but unlike you, I follow the rules and will not personally attack another member!
