Moving here next month, coming from Dallas. Where I have a multitude of options from high end gyms, malls, etc. What is the nicest/largest gym here? Any gyms that are a rec center? My old gym in Dallas had a large water park attached, is there anything similar here in Reno?

Also, where is the nicest/higher end mall in Reno?

Debating between moving to Sparks and South Reno. I love to be close to amenities. any suggestions?

The Summit Sierra in South Reno is a large outdoor mall with the parking in the middle. You can park right next to the stores. https://thesummitreno.com/

The Outlets at Legends in Sparks is another large outdoor mall but the parking is on the outside. You can park near some of the stores and walk to others. Some of the walkways inbetween the stores have fountains and Nevada themed statues. Kids play in the fountains in the summer. http://www.outletsatsparks.com/

We also have an older indoor mall called Meadowwood in Reno.

If you're looking for high end stores, then you are probably interested in the Summit Mall in south Reno (the only place where they build a mall at the bottom of a mountain and name it "The Summit"!) Dillards, Orvis, Apple, nicer salons.

I can't think of any gyms on the scale of what you are describing. Gyms here are pretty small and utilitarian. Even finding a gym with a pool is a stretch.

There is a family water park in Sparks, but it is not associated with anything other than a little cafe and mini-golf.

If you are expecting lots of high end malls and high end gyms, you may be disappointed. Remember that the cities of Reno and Sparks combined have only 350,000 people, so it is not like being in a sprawling metro like Dallas/Fort Worth/Plano.

The high end housing will be Arrowcreek and up Mt. Rose Highway. So any higher end stores will be in that area. I can't say I've seen anything equivalent to South Coast Plaza in So. Cal.

The foothills of Sparks (Spanish Springs) has nice houses...the conveniences are nice, but not high end.
