Looking for local advice or people that have recently moved to the Reno/Sparks area. What in your opinion would be the top 5 neighborhoods or areas? Everyone town has a few areas that everyone wants to move to and get their kids in those schools etc. Looking at moving to Reno area and will be making a trip to explore areas and wanted to narrow it down. Thanks.

For masterplanned/gated communities: Montreaux, Arrow creek, Caughlin Ranch, Somersett.

For classic city neighborhood feel: Old Southwest and the adjacent hilly Southwest areas within West Mccaran loop.

Pretty areas of Reno/Sparks

West Huffaker/Lakeside (Old South Suburban Reno), Newlands Manor (charming well kept classic/old homes in Old SW Reno), Hidden Valley (East Reno), Caughlin Ranch (West Reno), Hills of SW Reno within/around McCarran Loop, Galena/South Suburban Reno. Leaving town going south there's beautiful Franktown (West Washoe Valley). Not in Reno/Sparks...Genoa is very desirable. Most of these areas I've mentioned are green with trees. You can drop the little Google yellow/orange man into these neighborhoods and check them out virtually.

The most expensive Reno/Sparks MLS areas based on year 2018 median sale price

Sparks
Spanish Springs-East (North of La Posada where the lots are larger)

East Reno
Hidden Valley

Southwest/West/South Reno
Verdi
Reno-Southwest
Reno-West Southwest
Reno-Old South Suburban
Reno-South Suburban
Reno-Southwest Suburban

South of Reno
West Washoe Valley

Tahoe is nice but I can't convince my wife to deal with the snowfall every winter! Gotta find a compromise. Thank you to Nevada RE for the info.

Should include Wingfield Springs and Upper Highland Estates (just south of La Posada in the foothills). They are building a new intermediate school off of Pyramid Highway.

The Montreaux area looks just like neighborhoods on lake Tahoe.

It is beautiful. Expensive but beautiful.

And in case anyone wants to search online for more information about it, it's spelled Montreux.
