Is Google building its first Nevada data center next to Tesla's gigafactory, where it purchased some 12,000 acres of land?

Though the mailing address is "Sparks," the gigafactory is well outside Sparks. In fact the gigafactory and Sparks are each in two different counties. The gigafactory is in the desert and not in any city.

Have you got a cite on Google buying that land? I saw a news story a while back, and there was indeed a Buttz-load of land bought up out there, but it wasn't Google. Some guy with a Kooky Pie-in-the-Sky plan for a 'Tomorrow Land' city. I forget his name.

Of course Kontuz got it wrong again. It's only 1,200 acres...

Regarding the "Tomorrow Land" city, you probably are referring to this:

According to the image in the Google blog post, the new development in Nevada is going to be near Las Vegas, not Sparks.

Yeah, Vic. That guy Berns in your second link. I didn't put too much attention into it, but it sounds nutty.

By the way, all that land is Primo dirt-bike and Jeep country. Just try to keep me out.

Vegas, Sparks, Elko.... all the same, right? It's just one state, how far/different could it be?
