OK, so I haven't eaten out a lot since I have lived here in Reno but I saw a thread like this in the Omaha forum (where I used to live) and thought it'd be good to discuss restaurant in our area too!

Hmmm.....

Pizza - Pub N Sub on 10th & Ralston

Burgers - Mel's (inside the Sands)

Chinese - N/A ( I have only eaten at the King Buffet on Kietzke but I would not want to call that my favorite)

Mexican - N/A (again I haven't found a favorite but I am going to be trying Murrieta's on Neil Rd. soon, anyone have a heads up?)

I haven't eaten at many places, but as far as breakfast goes Pams Ham and Eggs was excellent downtown.

I would say most of the mom and pop places have the best food of all, not always the cleanest joints but the service, atmosphere and food is normally the best

China East off of Virginia just south of the downtown area is awesome.

Ok...here it is.

Newmans Deli..corner of California and Virginia actually just west of Virginia on California. Great sandwiches. Good breakfast.
Best burgers--Awful Awful inside the small Nugget on Virginia Street, just north of Second Street. Cue and Cushion is a close second
Best Pizza--Carella's off Vista in Sparks. Excellent. Worth the Drive.
BBQ--BBQ House on Wells Avenue. Excellent "wet" ribs.
Mexican--Bertha Miranda's on Mill Street. El Adobe on Virginia
Coffee House--Waldens on Mayberry and McCarran. West Reno.

Wow, I'm going to try a few places mentioned.
I LOVE going to Carson City and eating at Red's 395....so good.
Atlantis is the BEST buffet. ( we tried Grand Sierra because locals get in for $7.77, but the food is not great, never warm and the selection is slim)
Terrible's has a "Burger Buger Fry-Fry" that is awesome!
I have never has decent chinese or mexican food here and I'm still looking
for good southern or BBQ. I've had what was supposedly voted the best in Reno
and it sucked.

Stay away from the 'Maccu Piccu" Peruvian place in sparks. We went there once ebcause my sister in-law is from peru and was so homesick for her food. It was awful and so overpriced! She said it was nothing like real peruvuan food. No wonder we were the only one's there at dinner time on a weekend!!!

I'd love it if someone could recommend a good breakfast place.

I'm suprised you can't find a Mexican restaurant to your liking. IMO, there are tons of good to very good options in the Reno/Sparks area.

As for Machu Pichu (spelling?) I've heard similar bad stories about that place.

As for breakfast places, aside from the places I listed above you may also want to try Voila Cafe, Josef's Viena Bakery, Southside Cafe, or even My Favorite Muffin (pretty cheap and their breakfast bagels are yummy).

Try Murietta's Cantina on Neil & Peckham. It was very good, very authentic, and with our coupon, my wife and I only paid $16.00 for dinner! I give it 5 stars!
