Hey all, posting here from the CA side. We are relocating to the Portola area. I'm curious what the traffic/commute would be like during working hours and winter driving? Think coming from hallelujah junction. Pay isn't the best in Plumas County, so working in the Reno area is a possibility if I cant find the income levels needed to support our family.

I have done this drive plenty of times just never during heavy winter or commute hours.

I wouldn't want to do that commute even in nice weather, that's an hour drive from Portola on a long boring 2 lane road

I would expect an hour commute each way and add 30-45 minutes during winter weather conditions. There is transit service between Plumas County and Reno, but it's limited. It's composed of a weekly shuttle geared more towards seniors and the disabled. Other transit connections to Reno are accessed in Susanville.

Just a thought...Have you considered applying with the County of Plumas? They may have some potential job opportunities and you wouldn’t have such a long commute.

It's in my consideration, unfortunately I'm going to end up in a career transition. So I will be making like 15/hr if I go that route. They are hiring for jobs I'm sure I'd be able to get, just that pay cut will hurt.

Thanks for the guess, I was assuming that there wouldn't be much added time for traffic.
