Smile Life is Good

At least, we don't Hurricane season here. After living in the Gulf Coast for those two back to back years of hurricanes- Arlene, Dennis, Ivan, Katrina, Rita, Wilma..... we are loving the Reno-Tahoe area!

Default To Geekduo re:Sparks/Reno

The elementary schools in Sparks and Reno are bursting at the seams, frequently 35 to a class. Most are on 12 month schedules so your children could be going to school in July and August and off at other times in the year. Also many schools are in gross disrepair. Nov. 4 the locals voted down a bill to fund money to repair the schools. The Middle Schools and High Schools are also grossly overcrowded. Many have gang related problems and violence.
It snows here quite frequently in the winter. Sparks, Reno, Washoe County plow/sand very few of their roads and never get into the subdivision roads. Thus we have many unnecessary accidents.
We have a shortage of hospital beds, nurses, specialist doctors, dentists.
We are facing a water shortage crisis but the politicians and judges continue to allow developers to put in homes in the tens of thousands, and this in spite of one of the highest foreclosure rates in the nation.
The roads are clogged as they can't accommodate the current population let alone the projected one.
I would not recommend anyone relocating to this general metro area.

We're from the midwest and we would like the family to experience different parts of the country, but I want to make sure of the area. Of course we will visit before jumping into anything. We will be looking for a house to rent. Any advice would be appreciated.
If you are a Redneck or illegal alien, you go the right place.
You have chidlern? Oh, hell no. Not Sparks.
