Carson City is now getting fewer and fewer breaks from smoke now. It's intensity is becoming extreme. I am luck I leave for a 12-day vacation in MN next Thurs .

I have asthma, I am trying to avoid inhaling smoke as much as I can.

Since I have asthma and am retired I am staying in the house. It’s really awful!

I feel for all of you up there. Your PurpleAir numbers have been just awful for a few weeks now. Right now North Tahoe and Reno are 400s and even some 500s. Unlivable. As though we needed yet another attack on our life quality....

Oh come on guys!

The casino floors were smokier than this back when I was a kid..ha ha!

I still go out hiking and biking, but I am wearing a mask soaked in water outside. I figure maybe it’ll be like I smoked a pack of cigarettes in my life in the end. Always wondered what I was missing….

Your welcome! Just trying to stay positive! A little humor and all that.

It’s not fun that’s for sure, and I’ve got family that can’t go outside in it so I understand the frustration. It’s all very sad… I feel very sad about the beautiful forest destruction and for the people who have lost their homes. I haven’t even been able to bring myself to drive through some of my favorite mountain areas and see what’s left, I know I would cry.

It’s actually beautiful this morning where I’m at, going to stroll on the beach and enjoy the mountain views.

Purple air is not a reliable site. They sell air monitors to people and then get the data from them. For reliable numbers go to air now.gov. I downloaded the app because the numbers can really vary during the day.

I realize I could start a thread, but if I might intrude here I have a question.

I have a family member in CA who is in ICU and things don't look good.

I'm in Idaho and my route would be on I80. As far as stopping for the night, are things any clearer in Winnemucca than say Reno?

Thanks in advance!

PurpleAir is as or more reliable than most other sites. And there is much more dense and detailed data there than offered elsewhere. There are drop-down menus to manipulate the raw data any way your heart desires.

And it is outstanding for big-picture relative comparisons between different areas. Your statement is what is not reliable. PurpleAir is great.
