Default Gang ridden Sun Valley compared to Oakland,Fresno and Stockton California

Wanted a comparision between Sun Valley vs Oakland/Fresno/Stockton CA. I have lived in all three cities in CA and know what gang problem cities are like, I notice the regular posters absolutely SLAMMING Sun Valley, so I wanted a comparison to the 3 CA cities I listed.
Obviously, if you have NO experience living in Oakland/Fresno/Stockton then it will be hard for you to compare, so if any of you have experience living in any the the 3, then please reply.
thx

What are you smoking there, Mr. Realtor? I'm not sure where Sun Valley even is, so I can't comment on the gangs there. I HAVE spent many days in Oakland at baseball games however and NEVER encountered gangs, although I know the crime rate there is high.

Once again, as I have noted since joining this forum, you swoop in from left field and land absolutely nowhere. Go pull the wings off someone else's flies.

You give Nevadans a bad name.

Well you are going to be a lot of help...

Sun Valley is north of Sparks. Someplace around 20,000 folk. Relatively low density. Doubtful that it has any significant gang acitivity - though there are always a few members.

Hey just trying to get you to help a little in the education process...not your thing though is it? More into non-constructive insults.

Is this even a serious question... Sun Valley has no gangs... just a million trailer homes and red necks... maybe more of a meth problem but no gangs... I think there's like 3 murders a year if that....

Cant even compare to Oakland, Fresno, or Stockton... In fact the only serious gang bangers in the entire northern nevada area have come here from Sacramento!

Edit: Now if you think some 12 year old kids spray painting grafitti on your fence and stealing your son's bike is a bad gang problem then you may be on to something... lol

What time period did you live in Fresno, that would also help with a comparison.

Crime in Fresno has taken a huge drop, crime is now lower in Fresno than in the City of San Francisco and roughly the same as Reno's crime rate was a couple of years ago.

Default Gangs

So where is Sun Valley, I've never heard of this place but I have lived in Fresno for just about all my life and the Fresno Bulldogs are the biggest set around here. There is an estimated 5000 members in the gang and there are a few sets or sides that have been at war, you have the Parkside Fresno PSF & Eastside Fresno ESF, and they are Sanger Chankla Bulldogs, Calwa Vatos Locos CVL. Then there are the Bloods, Crips, & the Asian gangs and of course there are the Graffitti or smaller gangs that are well known and the white street gangs like Nazi Low Riders, White Pride, Peckerwoods and ETC. Hope that helped withe the Fresno area, so to answer your question Oakland would at the top I'd think for gang related crimes, Stockton, Fresno & Sun Valley. I believe your at the base of the Verdugo Hills, and surrounded by a few rough cities but I havn't heard of your city.

What am I the only Renoite here? Sun Valley is North of Reno, a rural "exurb" that is not part of the City of Reno. Its reputation comes from two world records that probably are not still valid. They had the highest percentage of ex-felons and trailers. Yes, it's an impoverished white, rural community, but comparing Sun Valley to Oakland or Stockton is like comparing an apple to an apple orchid. The numbers simply don't add up. There's only 20K folks in Sun Valley, and I've driven through there a few times and NEVER felt unsafe whereas every time I drive through Oakland I pray I don't get a flat tire. The gangs in Sun Valley are posers. I'm sure some are hardcore but please. Most are white teenagers who have never met a real gang member except on MTV. In fact, Reno had a hardcore hip hop scene at Masquerade an new closed bar, and all the Reno hip hop dudes were too scared to go because the Bay hip hop guys took over the bar. But if you're looking for a great deal on a mobile home and a free pit bull to go with it, Sun Valley is the place for you!

Default Sun Valley

Well, I live in Sun Valley (Highland Ranch Community-NO TRAILERS) It is the biggest trailer community around and Yes with a meth problem. But as far as comparision with those OTHER cities, you just cant. I see no gang activity here, just curb creatures stumbling along Clearacre. Reno is a great city to relocate to. Most def its a cowboy town and they dont take any crap. Gang activity is nothing compared to So Cal or No Cal.

Street gangs operating in the region, many of which engage in retail-level drug trafficking, perpetrate a considerable portion of the crime that occurs in the region each year, according to law enforcement officials. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Gang Crimes Bureau, reports that the number of documented gangs in the area increased overall from 254 in 2005 to 457 in 2008. Gang members are typically 15- to 26-year-olds who commit crimes such as armed robbery, assault, and drive-by shooting to enhance their status in the gang, generate income, and protect their territory. According to the Reno Police Department, the number of documented gangs in the area has consistently ranged from 30 to 40 since 2004. However, the number of gang members in Reno increased overall from 1,500 in 2006 to approximately 1,800 in 2008. Reno gang members commonly commit residential and commercial burglary to steal high-value items, such as weapons, electronics, and jewelry, that they can sell or trade for drugs.
