Question Spanish Springs

I just visited this town/area whatever it may be considered. It seemed very nice with new shopping and no real reason to have to go to Reno except for the mall or airport.
Does anyone have any insight about this area? Does Sparks have a crime problem?
It looks as though there are many bums scattered throughout the city.
Does this area or Reno/Sparks in general have a big crime or gang problem.
Just trying to get all the facts, thank you !

Crime,, ? sometimes, like any place else.
Gangs, why worry? The gangs are not interested in you unless you are in a gang.
Spanish Springs is fine, boring, but fine for most people.

Why worry about gangs, oh I don't know maybe because they can cause the area to become crap. Last time I checked normal good people didn't want to live in areas with gangs. And yes I know crime is everywhere but it's nice to know where the "Bad" areas are.

That is a case of chicken and egg. Gangs are in areas with high populations of minorities. So a better question would be what is the minority percentage in the area that you are looking at.

Gangs do not cause the area to become crap. Gangs are born in areas that are "crap".

In many of the California threads "Are there gangs?" is often a euphemism for, "are there Mexicans or Blacks?".

Know many white gang members? Anglos have a distorted picture of gangs, hispanic gangs in particular. Their crimes are usually committed among each other and they leave whites out of it. Crimes like burglary which are common among whites are not usually gang directed. Gangs are a social club, it is very hard in the Reno area to be Mexican and not in a gang. I know many gang children and gang parents, I respect them as individuals and they respect me for respecting them.

I could be screwed if I was prejudiced.

Most crimes that really bother us, murder, assault, rape, occur among people who know each other.

I have not locked my doors in years, I have little fear of violence committed against me or mine, if someone wants to burglarize my home, I would rather have them open the door and walk in, than to break something on their way in or out.
