personal injury lawyer
A personal injury lawyer is a lawyer who provides legal representation to those who claim to have been injured, physically or psychologically, as a result of the negligence or wrongdoing of another person, company, government agency, or other entity. Thus, personal injury lawyers tend to be especially knowledgeable and have more experience with regard to the area of law known as tort law, which includes civil wrongs and economic or non-economic damages to a person’s property, reputation, or rights.

Lawsuit abuse is legalized robbery that we all pay for.

If you are expecting some huge reward for a several stitches in a finger, it is rather doubtful. File a claim with the retailer's insurance company.

A case of this nature is worth about a hundred dollars and not worth hiring a lawyer and doubt if an attorney would even bother with it.
Let the attorney idea go and try to get the owner of to pay the doctor's bill IF there were any negligence or defect in the escalator.

I agree, file a claim for medical care with the insurer of the store.
However, you might want to go back to the store and look at the escalator. Quite often there is a little picture sign there showing an adult holding the hand of the child. I do not see how your kid could have gotten their hand hurt if you had been holding hands. You would have had one hand in yours and you could have kept the child from getting the other hand in the machinery. The store is not responsible for negligence on the part of the parents.
