Jes I'm moving down to the Lovelock area 110 miles north of Reno, I chose Lovelock cuz I don't want the population of people but I will look forward to driving into Reno for the motor head activities as well as all others. As they say you can please everybody some of the time and some of the folks all of the time so to each his own, good luck and have fun I plan too.

I know Reno does seem great for Kayaking ,storage will be an issue in our new home ,also the weight of putting on the car was getting a problem.
Will rent ,or buy small light ones or even an inflatable.Since we got older we go mainly for scenery and relaxation .

I've traveled around the country quite a bit, but I always enjoy coming home to Reno. We have a great selection of things to do (water & snow skiing, hiking, kayaking, concerts, theatre, festivals, museums, restaurants, etc.), yet things in Reno move at a less hectic pace than bigger cities. I also enjoy the climate. There is just something so comfortable, laid back and refreshing about Reno IMHO.

The only negatives for myself is the political climate is a bit too conservative for my taste, there is too much graffiti/crime and I wish there were more high-end shopping options (Nordstrom please!).

Arrow that's one small step for...now let's split.

jes. go to my post under THE RIDE TO RENO, DOGS AND DIGS.

I am from Signal Mountain Tennessee. We came out here Jan 3 and still have out home in TN. We are leaving Reno within a week,

Give me some info. Let me konw what you made the discison to move to Reno, what you do,

WITHOUT HEARING ANY OF THAT, my inclination is to tell you to stay where you are or, at least, in the general vacinity. There is nothing sweeter than the south and it's people. This is a very disenfranchised place that is growing on the purses of Californians. It's main economy is gambling and prositituon yet it has a Republican Governor to dsipense those "family values". I get absolutely no vibe off the place.....and IT IS AN EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE PLACE TO LIVE.

It's like living on the moon ..where the wind blows brown dirt on everything you have. Enchanting. Why do you think Ben carright sold the POnderosa??
Washing my car is my newest hobbie...three times a week.

If you want to come west, have a better chance for employent and a good wage, SACRAMENTO is the place....then you still have access to all the Sierra Beauty on the GREEN SIDE and access to Reno any time you want to come -for whatever reason.

My wife and I are packing today and headed back. We can;t wait to be home.

Default Do A Long Vacation In Reno

Came to Reno in Jan, going back to Tennessee. There are many things to like about Reno but most of it is on the other side of the Sierras where it is green. VERY expensive to live here. My advice...take a few months and vacation here,
