I live in the Northwest part of town. The comment about smog that akm4 made is accurate. If you drive into town from the west or from the north you see smog on most mornings. The winters are the worst since we get inversions. In this regard, I would say that Reno would appear dirtier than some cities.

One thing I have noticed about Reno though is the lack of public landscaping. If you go to a neighborhood and find bushes in the median or trees along a path it's usually because it's part of some home owner's association. Somersett, Double Diamond and Wingfield Springs all pay for their landscaping. Even the smaller neighborhoods do this. If the city is responsible for an area there's a good chance that you'll see cement, weeds or both.

If we're just talking about trash blowing around I wouldn't think it dirtier.
