Well, not that I care for it, but everyone I worked with were fair fanatics and went to all home games complete with tailgate parties.
Last years average attendance at Mackay stadium was 17,314 That seems pretty good for a small time college.
I see lots of youth and adult leagues, the lights at the various athletic fields burn into the night most of the summer.
Youth club soccer is a very big deal, all my kids played on club soccer teams in Reno. I imagine one can extrapolate that out to the other youth sports.
My son played on a Reno ice hockey team that was popular, back when Reno had ice.

Nevada is a Division I program. The NCAA's attendance requirement for continued full-fledged status in the association's Football Bowl Subdivision (Division I-A) can be met if a school averages 15,000 in actual or paid attendance for all home games one time during a rolling two-year period. In 2008, Nevada rated 100th out of 119 in home attendance. Most of the teams below Nevada have pretty mediocre records.
In comparison. Division I-AA (FCS), Montana draws over 20,000 per game.

I do not understand the attempt to argue an pretty unimportant point. If 2 people in Reno or 200,000 people somewhere else want to sit in bleachers and watch other men running around in funny suits carrying a ball, good for them. I consider it a complete waste of time to sit on my butt and watch someone else having fun, and I have absolutely no interest in any game that requires a ball, lines and rules.
The question was, is Reno Sports friendly, if 10% of the town show up at a game, no matter what game, no matter how silly, I'd say that is a pretty fair crowd.

Im not arguing that, even though Im a huge fan. But Nevada isnt a small time college, and if it is than its lack of fan support that holds them back. Also, we count attendance worse than like every school in 1-A. In theory it could be more like a school such as Nebraska or Oregon, even Boise State. Reno has potential to be an awesome college town.
