I am thinking about moving to Reno and will rent first. I'm looking for something fairly specific--a small house/cabin/cottage in a secluded area. Something with trees, water and wildlife would be ideal. I don't want to be too far out of town, though--within a drive of 10-15 minutes. Thanks.

Areas west of Reno near the Sierra Nevada Mtns (west of the Boomtown Casino and along the CA/NV stateline) are about as close to woodsy and secluded as you will find and still be within 15 mins away from Reno. Check Verdi, Nevada and surrounding areas.

Up Mt. Rose Hwy (about 15-20 minutes from the airport and 25 minutes from downtown), just be prepared to pay through the nose. Houses there are (typically) quite large and expensive, but you might be able to find a few exceptions. I would also check Verdi which is about 15 minutes to the airport and 10 minutes to downtown.
