WOW! So many places one could live. Thank goodness there are people who can advise on there first hand experiances in towns. My husband and I are in our eirly 30's we are from a small town about 5,000 people. We have 4 kids 14yrs-5yrs. We have 2 horses and 2 dogs. Our kids like sports and 4-h/ffa. We like to hunt, fish, camp, and have a boat for water sports. We would like to either be in a town less than 20,000 people with no large city's near by, or be in a town 2-8,000 people with a larger city near by to commute for work or just stuff to do. Looking for a decent priced town to enjoy. We like the simple life do not want to live with the KEEP UP WITH THE JONES'S people. We do not want to live in a town that has been taken over by the well to do yuppie type or the nature types. We do recycle but dont need to be reminded every day how bad the enviroment is. We are happy, kind and fun people with good ethics who like to BBQ, watch sunday football kick back a few brews at the local pub, have good neibors who are down to earth and content as well. Want the kids to be able to play out side or even walk to a local shop for ice cream and not fear for them. HELP< HELP. We will need to rent at first and then buy later.

Reno is going the way of Vegas. Lots of people selling in California and moving to Nevada. In the last election Reno and Las Vegas voted for Obama and the rest of the state went for McCain. What you describe is more like Elko than Reno. I suggest you look there.

Elko or Ely, both in the eastern part of the state. In my opinion, Ely's a bit nicer than Elko.

And in my opinion Elko is a heck of a lot better than Ely, It has the Star, and the Commercial, and is close to world class mountains. But, you notice the poster bailed, never came back to thank, or to insult, or anything, I do find that annoying.
