As for you question about hospitals in the area, I can offer my take. I currently work at Renown Regional Medical Center. (It is the hospital off of Second St.) I will obviously have my bias but I have been a patient here several times and every stay was wonderful. The staff is courteous and professional and the surgeons are great. As for Saint Mary's (Sixth St.) I hear good things, but I can't speak to the quality of care because I have never had to be there. If anyone has any suggestions please add on. |

Just cruising around the internet, here, checking out who's linking to the blog, when I stumbled onto this thread... Please let me know if your local contact doesn't work out as Guy and I would be happy to help you find your perfect place here in Reno. Renting for a while is a great idea as the foreclosures are only starting to roll in, and prices may soften up a bit more in the coming year or two. Only 6-10% of sellers in our market really price to sell, while the rest are simply fishing. Builders are offering varying degrees of discounts/incentives, and if you catch them on a sale weekend you can get a really great deal. While Del Webb is usually the best buy in Somersett, occasionally the Pulte courtyards/duets just out front go on sale for $122/per square foot... a far better buy whenever that happens. If you buy in Double Diamond, yes, you'll get a good per square foot price, but beware, you will be competing with builder inventory for years. Lots to consider... please let me know if you need help sorting any of this out.
Very best, Diane Cohn Moderator cut: link to personal blog removed PS: I personally don't mind the wind and don't understand why people make such a big deal out of it sometimes... I live in Somersett, but it's not like it's windy all the time, only temporarily when something is blowing in. In fact, the summer breezes save me a lot in air conditioning costs. But my highly hairsprayed mother-in-law would probably disagree, as some days, no amount of Aqua Net will keep her sixties hairstyle in place. Last edited by scirocco22; 10-11-2007 at 09:28 PM.. Reason: excellent resource but we no longer are allowing the links to personal blogs. Please use DM in the future. Thanks. |

Well, I thought you were on vacation, according to your blog. I guess you're back. I hope you don't mind the link to your blog. As a lurker, I found it generally useful and interesting so I thought there might be some interest here in light of the discussion. So, time to leave and check out your blog again. |

Diane,
I love your blog -- spent hours over the weekend reading your archives and planned to email you when you returned from vacation....guess I will today. No one ever contacted me through my neighbor/realtor's inquiry, so my husband and I planned to call you and Guy when the time came for us to get serious about a move. I'll email you through your address at your website. Mimi |
