The problem with a salary arrangement is it does not matter if you work 10 hours a week or 100, the pay is the same. Always be wary of an employer who wants to immediately call you "The Manager" and have you work on salary. In most cases it is a lot of work as you have to make up any shortfall in staffing. It would be better if you took a job at some other hotel on a regular shift for a regular salary. You might check with the bigger casino/hotels.

When I was hired I WAS NOT informed of the hours I would be working. Or I would not have accepted the position, as I was already employed. But was looking for another property since my building was in the process of being sold. And the new owners were offering a lower salary than what I was already receiving.
And if I need to make a errand fast and be gone for not more than an hour it is like pulling teeth to get a way, even to run to the store or to the bank.
With the current unemployment rate here in Reno needless to say it has been difficult trying to find other employment. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
You're in a bad spot, Ladyreno. Here in Branson, there was a similar job advertised. Fortunately for me the job description was provided and my response was.... "WTF??????" Basically, for the amount of work that was expected (24/7) versus the pay, it came down to about $4 per hour.

Other than finding another job, or renegotiating your contract with the owners, you don't have much recourse. I would try to hang in there the best I can and be looking for something else.

Also, if you have a two bedroom managers apartment, I would try to get a roommate who could perhaps "look after" things for you when you have to go to the bank or need some time off in exchange for rent. At least that would give you a bit of a break from time to time without putting another person on the payroll.

Yup I've managed apartments for years so have the experience. I'm a body, and talk about trust issues, my god we went round and round over that for weeks before he realized he really did have an honest employee. Hah manager? my ass I have no access to supplies, he closes out all charges, and chewed my ass off when I found out we had an illegal doing house keeping for us and i advised her we can no longer use her. I was dumbfounded when the housekeeper asked if she bought a fake one would I still employ her. I of course said "No" Was advised "Were you told you could fire someone one?" I was like I sure did thought so since I did the hiring. But this one was here before I started, but now I insist they provide their ssi card and green card upon hire. So it looks like I'm stuck here until I can find something else, but oh I so wanted to be able to sue him.

Consider, a reasonable wage allows you to buy a home, a new car, feed yourself, take a few vacations and put money aside to retire on and put the kids through college. $2688 is not going to do that

2688 is about 32,000 a year. A four year degree in engineering will start at $50,000 to $70,000 a year, that is, start.
I live well on approximately $20k - $22k per year. My house is paid for, I drive an older (paid for() vehicle, as does my husband; and have no need (nor desire) for vacations. And remember PLEASE, not everyone is so unfortunate to have to put children through college. LOL

Depending on how big your property is, you could make a little money on the side by "renting" rooms out on your own, under the table. I seriously doubt if he is going to go room to room and check which are occupied and demand a receipt to show how they paid. The housekeepers would have to keep their mouth shut though, which isn't usually a problem. Most housekeepers do not usually talk to the "boss" unless they have to.

Well, you have more integrity than your boss deserves, IMHO. If he is there every day, why can't he man the front desk, handle the day to day duties while you take some time off. What does he do, just sit in his office and puff a cigar?

This guy really wanted a slave but couldn't legally put that in the ad. It's astounding that some people get to be business owners at all.
