I was born in Phoenix and lived there for 30 years. I did the opposite as in moving to Reno. I liked Reno much better than Phoenix. It was absolutely beautiful, especially being so close to Lake Tahoe. I agree with Captain's comments. The only thing I did not like about Reno was the cold weather. I had to leave Reno because I could not find work. On my way back decided to try Vegas again. It worked out so I have been here over 4 years. Going from Reno to a place like Phoenix is only going to leave you extremely disappointed. Don't do it.

Yeah, i don't have any comparisons with reno and phoenix, just giving my impression of phoenix itself...but everybody is different thats for sure.

Hell i live in boise now and even though its like 10x smaller i prefer being here. I am pondering Reno instead of Boise due to what you mentioned, proximity to places like Lake Tahoe and its a hell of a lot closer to the coast/SF. I would like to move to portland/seattle but my wife might not be able to take the weather haha.

Leaving Reno,

When you take the $200,000 loss you would still be able to sell it without a short sale process?

If you're thinking of putting down the price, now is a good time because demand is sky rocketing from May-September. I suggest to do it soon because supply will also go up by July, once sellers try to catch the buyer summer wave.

I'm not trying to pry you away from your Realtor. Just if you need more info. about what's happening in the market. Read some articles here: RenoHomeBlog.com (disclaimer: i own the site). Again, this is just so you can understand where your Realtor is coming from about the market..

Best wishes on your new job and environment!

-Joe

Default Surprise, AZ to Reno

I want to sell my house and move to Reno area, but am not sure where is a decent place to go. It doesn't necessarily have to be the city itself, I like a little country, if possible.

It would be nice if you could send me some pics of your house.
