One of my neighbors was given one for requesting repairs. She fought it in court, and lost. Even though she had over 20 pages of documentation, photos of the problems, and the eviction paperwork was illegal, she still lost.

I'll spare posting photos unless anyone really wants to see them. She has slugs (yes, slugs) coming up out of bathtub drain, black mold in the bathroom, and there were feces all over the side of her front yard. After her son took a photo of this, she was given an eviction notice the next day.

The owner has also been reported to Code Enforcement, so we're waiting to see what happens with that. We live in California.

I'm sure there is alot more to the eviction than pictures. The full story, from both sides, would be helpful. But really, at this point, it doesn't matter. This isn't court.

Yet everyone here wants to act like judge and jury

The manager has no life, and doesn't like Hispanics. He also evicted someone a few years ago because she had a lot of friends, so he decided that she was a prostitute.

From what I've read California laws favor the tenant, inspite of all the documentation, there has to be more to the story. The eviction is a done deal now. Code Enforcement should have been contacted during the tenancy.

The Code Enforcement complaint (with photos) was handcarried last Friday (06/04/2010). It should take them about a week to contact the owner, unless they're short staffed. She has to be out by June 20, and all they'll do is do a once-over cleaning job, and put it up for rent again. The other thing that the manager didn't like about her was the fact that she had a large family, and they would come to visit.

There was no question asked. I merely provided the photos for information. Code Enforcement hasn't contacted the slumlord yet, though.

You seem to be confused about what defines retalitory action and not the cause of the eviction. At this point contacting code is of no benefit.
