If you don't like it, you can always break the lease and move out

I agree that they probably have this policy to avoid tenants asking for their final moveout inspection after business hours. Sounds like a good idea!

I wouldn't expect to have to pay for the full day then. Maybe half the prorated daily amount?

I guess we'll be out in the morning whenever we move from here, but I don't like to have the restriction. Why, if I'm supposed to pay for a full month on my last month, do I need to rush? June 30th is still June till midnight.
Because you accepted those terms when you signed your lease contract. Always read the contract and make all changes prior to signing.

What is wrong with that...do you want the owner wait outside until midnight....you signed the lease...so next time read what you sign...at least the important parts.

If you follow that logic, then you should pay less in Feb, only 28 days, or any month that's just 30 days, etc. You pay on a monthly basis, not daily, its not a hotel. some months you get more for your money, some months you get less, that's how it goes.

My suggestion is that you hold fast to what you have, occupancy. If you had any idea of the miles of "red tape" that it will take to force-ably remove you from said premises,
I would hold out and stick to my guns on the issue. This world in which we live, is becoming more supportive of the spirit of the written law than the letter of the law and the
chances are that in view of the general economic malaise of the economy, any administrative effort to remove you from your habitat will drag on long after the high noon moment
that your landlord has decreed. If you were required to post security, whatever disparity that is evident to the authorities will be adjusted by way of that security. Don't be overly
intimidated by assuming that you have no rights in this matter, you will always retain certain rights in the eyes of the law unless your landlord is "connected" to city hall. In that case,
a perfunctory review of the property, the smoke alarm batteries, the electric meter, and every other condition surrounding his right to legally rent to you, might disclose or discover a
"sticking point" to your agreement with that landlord.

a lease doesn't mean you have to leave on that day it expires.
in June the landlord has the option to renew the lease or not.
if the landlord decides not to renew the lease, all that means that your rental status has changed from leased to month to month.
if the landlord want's you out, they need to evict you.

if you decide to move out at the end of the lease and you gave notice, you have all day June 30th,in fact you could still be there July 1 and they couldn't do anything.
