I'm not quite sure but I assume you will need to bring some pay stubs, identification, and most importantly some money. I have heard of many applicants getting their keys right on the spot, if they had the money available on the day of the apartment viewing. I am not sure how much is the security deposit, but to be on the safe side, take 30% of your monthly income and times that by two and what ever is that amount, I would advise you to bring it with you so you could get moving fast!

Hello there,
I as well had an interview and it was for castle hill. I was just found eligible for housing and I'm waiting to become certified. I was told that I will be getting a 3 bedroom apartment. Question, how long did u wait after the interview to become certified, and how many bedrooms are you waiting for? I guess we'll be neigbors....cause I was told either there are apartments or there will b very soon, probably fixing them up. Keep me posted hun thanks for the feedback

Wow. I feel for you guys. Before I decided to buy, I was on a waiting list for an income based complex. I knew ahead of time that the waiting list was 2 years. So I knew what to expect going in. I'm thinking they should have explained this process better to you guys.
Oh and when the 2 years was up and I was called to qualify - they told me that I made too much money. That was too funny to me. I was overpaid to qualify for low incoming housing, but I don't make enought to afford a regular apartment. Nice.

well i took matters into my own hands with housing and met with my congressman....as of now...im awaiting certification. I know im eligible, they know where they want to put me.....there just still processing my application. My local congressman sent out a pretty nice letter to the cheif of nycha downtown telling him my situation and requesting information on my application as to why its taking so long.....ill keep you guys posted and let you know how it goes when you bring out the BIG GUNS LOL......I hope the letters scares them into actually doing something and speeding up the process cause i cant afford the rent where im at and im in jeopordy of getting evicted

I called my local congressman and they acted as if they couldn't help me..they said they focus on people with domestic cases or homeless I do understand that they should come first but what about the average person that just needs help too..I've been waiting 8 months for a apt and was told it was immediate vacancies so y is there still a wait.
