Hey,

I'm a 20 year old college student. I live in Murfreesboro, TN with many corporate apartment complexes. I moved out of my last apartment, and I didn't have anywhere to go. While I was still living there, I went and filled out a lease for a different apartment complex, but I wouldn't be allowed in for 3 weeks after I was required out of my former apartment.

So I moved in with a friend and decided that I'm staying here. I've already signed a lease here.

The apartment complex I went to filled out a lease at sent me a package containing all of my move in info. I filled out the lease there, BUT I NEVER SIGNED THE BOTTOM LINE, NOR DID MY REQUIRED GUARANTOR SIGN, and now apparently, I owe them $200 and if I don't pay it they will send collections to my door to get rent. Is this legal or even possible?

Please help, I can't pay someone $200 for absolutely nothing.....

Thanks,
Wes

Application fees, Advanced Deposits, Approved Application Tenant Withdrawn Fees, etc are all State specific. Without saying what State your in, nobody can answer this question.

I could not find anything for Tn specific about the aplication process or fees, but there was something about agreements.

When you went to the apartment, did you fill out a application, was approved, and was given a lease to sign?

If so, when was the scheduled move in date and when did you formally notify them you are not moving in?
