OK...
Lets pretend for a minute that a landlord and I have a "verbal" month-to-month "Agreement" to pay 550 per month, which includes EVERYTHING, No Security Deposit. It is a room in a house of which I occupy. I only cook at home maybe once a week, and I keep my small pet in a cage. Quiet and never makes noise.

My friend comes over only maybe once a week for a couple hours in which the landlord gave permission.

This "Agreement" was made in November. Come March 15, I found a new place and signed a 1 year lease. (not important)
I told my landlord that I will be moved out in 2 weeks... I had the room (small room at that) emptied that week

Prior to telling the landlord I was moving out, the landlord shut the heat off in my room (which initiated my search). Nights have been quite COLD.
* less than adequate *

Fast Forward 2 weeks, Landlord "Texts" me and said that I owe a full month rent for not giving 30 days notice... But the landlord said they would be nice and accept only half month rent.

I ignored the land lord, so i received a text stating it would be in your best interest not to ignore me

I mean honestly. I was a good tenant, Paid in cash, on time. Had my heat shut off on me.. Oh and also note, the mental state of mind of this person isnt exactly comfortable. While there was no proven tests, they werent quite what other people think of normal is. (again not important, but creeped me out )

Be honest with me, Is there anything that can be done to me. I feel they are being unfair and just plain greedy?
Could they claim I didnt pay at all (no receipts were done)

I mean honestly 275 isnt much, and i dont even care about the money. Now its all about principal.
I almost hope she tries to bring me to small claims and asks for this extra month. its going to cost her more than its worth.. am i right.

Please be honest.

Standard is 30 days written notice on a month to month, written or verbal contract.

I would pay the 2 weeks. Its fair enough. There's enough going on here that you should have done like get things in writing, etc. Might as well just pay, chalk the whole thing up to experience, and leave.

Regardless of your landlord playing the tough guy or not, you do need to give at least 30 days written notice before leaving.

I would pay for the extra two weeks. After discounting a small amount of lack of heat.

OK, let's pretend that your state landlord law requires a 30 day written notice to vacate. Lets pretend that you only gave 2 weeks notice.

When your landlord pretends to take you to court the judge is going to order you to pay the last 2 weeks that you didn't pay for.

Let's pretend that you can save yourself a lot of grief by simply paying what you owe and getting on with your life.
