I live in an apartment complex for low income families. I reported to them saturday that my heat isnt working. Here its now wednesday and still no heat. I have two small children. What can i do about this. They said they would be here on tuesday to fix it. No one showed.

The first step is to always mitigate damages...

I would think it perfectly reasonable for the management to furnish temporary portable heating devices...

I keep a ready supply of electric oil filled radiator type heaters as well as a couple of hot plates and office style refrigerators for emergencies...

Equipment does breakdown and the responsibility may or may not lie solely with the owner...

Had a lightening strike years ago that damage several properties in one neighborhood... it took 5 days for all of the damage to be fully repaired... we all worked together and everyone made the best of it because all the could be done was being done.

When nobody showed on Tuesday to fix the problem did you call management again to ask why nobody came? That would seem to be the logical action to take. In fact, I would have called again on Monday to make sure that the Tuesday appointment was still on and confirm the time.

Depends on where you live, some states allow the landlord more time to make repairs then others. Definitely request some portable heaters in the interim.
