My roommate just received a new job so had to get a car in order to make a commute. Currently I am paying $75 for parking and went in to get a second parking pass. I was told while doing this that for a second car for an apartment they charge $120 per month. I was shocked since I hadn't heard this before. I checked my lease and nowhere in there does it say anything about $120 for a second car. There is actually a spot that says $75 per car per month. So here's my question can my landlord change the pricing of parking even though the lease says something else?
The lease already says $75 per car pr month. Per the lease, you should be paying $150 per month for 2 cars.
However, are you still on a lease that has not yet expired? If it expired, you then automatically go month-to-month in most states. When this occurs, rent increases are fair game.
Call the office and tell them your lease states $75 per car. They cannot legally charge you more until the lease expires.
FIRST get clarification. Do they want $75 for the first car and $120 for the second car...or do they want a total of $120 for both cars? That latter would be nice.
